Hey, seniors! It’s the time of year for college apps.  What a joy, am I right?  As exciting as this new part of your life is, it can also be stressful and overwhelming. Take comfort in the fact that you’re not alone!  Here are some statistics and commentary, from Marin Catholic seniors themselves, about their top schools and other college related information.

Top Schools:

  1. Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and San Diego State
  2. Chapman and University of San Diego
  3. USC
  4. Oregon, Santa Cruz, UCSB, Davis, UCLA
  5. Nevada, Georgetown, University of Washington, MIT, Stanford, TCU, Santa Clara

38% of people asked ARE NOT applying to the UCs.

61% of people asked ARE applying to the UCs .

We noticed some of you scholars are applying way far away! Here are the furthest schools being applied to:

  1. Scotland and France (Bon voyage!)
  2. East Coast Schools: Washington DC, New York, New Hampshire

Top Majors:

  1. Business
  2. Psychology
  3. English, Kinesiology, Engineering
  4. Journalism

While the average number of schools being applied to was 10, some people are applying to only 3, while others are applying to up to 20

Most Desired Dream Schools:

  1. USC
  2. Stanford, Harvard, UCLA (good luck scholars!)
  3. NYU, Cal Poly, Duke

We asked a couple of you how you guys how you keep from getting stressed during this difficult time!

Summer Vallely: “The way I stay calm is by writing down what I have to do and getting it done ahead of time.”

Izzy Gardner: “I don’t.”

Kerry Minekheim: “I just tell myself that there is nothing I can do, and that whatever happens, I don’t have any control over the situation. I did what I could.”
