A Peek at Upcoming Movie “Star Wars: A Force Awakens”

Every family has seen and loved at least one part of the Star Wars series. The first movie was released in theaters in May 1977, with the second and third released three and six years later, respectively. The movies were a huge success, and the original Star Wars movie was the highest grossing film of the time, surpassing even Jaws, which was no small feat. The success of the first Star Wars trilogy led to prequels created in 1999, 2002, and 2005. To date, these six movies have grossed over $4.5 billion. And here we are ten years later eagerly awaiting the newest addition to the famous franchise: “The Force Awakens”.

Not much is known about this new movie. Only two official trailers have been released and many new characters have been kept secret, keeping the fan base in excited suspense. The previews hint that there is another Sith lord threatening the galaxy and a few beloved heroes trying to stop him. These champions include the notorious Han Solo, played by Harrison Ford, and his trusty companion Chewbacca. However, in reviewing the trailers, there seem to be new protagonists vying against the dark side of the force. These characters include a mysterious storm trooper and a woman who looks suspiciously similar to Leia Skywalker. In the second trailer released, the narrator is presumably Luke Skywalker because the words he is saying were the exact ones he spoke to Leia in the third Star Wars movie – but whether he is even alive or not in the movie is still unknown.

The setting of this new installment in the series varies greatly from what is revealed in the trailers; each tiny piece of the plot is creating curiosity in viewers of what this movie will be about. The settings include an endless desert, snow-covered mountains, and a vast lake. Each scene is filled with explosions and hints of what is to come. One can assume the desert scenes in most of the scenes of the trailer are on Tatooine, the home planet of Anakin and Luke Skywalker.  There are also scenes of the Millennium Falcon evading other spaceships and fighter pilots of the Old Republic. The movie trailer shows that “The Force Awakens” is shaping up to be another fast-paced thriller.

Set to come out December 18th 2015, this movie is predicted to surpass all box office records, so buy your tickets early. The film is not yet rated, but it is sure to be action-packed like all the previous films.
